Youth Pastor’s Bio
Jonathan Brooker – Youth Pastor
Family is huge to me, and so it’s no wonder that I’d end up at a church that’s tag line is “The Family Church.” Mine consists of three younger brothers who double as best friends and two loving parents who double as spiritual leaders. They’re some of my biggest supporters and some of the best entertainment I’ve ever known. They’ve shown me firsthand what a good (do not read “perfect”) Christ-centered family looks like. And it’s that picture that inspires me to be a pastor who inspires and equips other families to reach their fullest potentials.
Since being called into youth ministry at the young age of twelve, I’ve always had a passion and a burden to see those in junior and senior high come to a life-altering encounter with the One who gave them life. What a better time in life to meet God, grow in a relationship with Him, and be empowered to serve in His Name?! I’ve been able to personally see lives radically changed by the love of our Heavenly Father and it’s what excites me to partner with the leadership (paid and volunteer) at Mount Oak to see it happen all the more!
I’m an admitted media addict with a large iTunes library, movie-watching history, and book collection. I also love getting out and hiking, fishing, swimming, playing a game of ultimate Frisbee, or just going for a bike ride. When Jesus promised us life abundantly (John 10:10) I tend to think He meant it. And when it comes to ministry, I believe that diversity and creativity are crucial to living that abundant life together. I love working with people that are different and see differently than me. And I love coming up with new ways of presenting old truths so that they connect today with where we’re at here and now.
I’m a people person and I’m fully convinced that God never intended us to do this thing alone. So I consider my friendships some of the best currency I own. My hope is that, if we’re not already friends, maybe you and I could grab a cup of coffee and get to know each other better and change that!
